Visit to Kais Dhar Forest House in Kullu Forest Division.
On 28th February 2016 we visited Kais Dhar Forest House and also inspected areas of Newly extended part of Nargu Wild Life Sanctuary. Very old British times FRH is devoid of road network which remained away from general people. From the entry register of rest house it was noticed that only selected people visited the site.
As per locals and site information there is a small hut just below the FRH where Range officer used to stay.In the FRH only DFO used to stay. It was not allowed for RO to stay in FRH.
Still well maintained FRH in the lap of green Deodar forests, this is one of the best site for Eco-tourism trail which connects Bhubu pass towards Joginder Nagar (Shil Badhani and Ropa) side.

SHRINKING HIMALAYA GLACIERS--It was in the news that the glaciers are not vanishing from the Himalayas. As per my personal experience which I observed from last three decades that the Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and vanishing very rapidly. The examples are Bara Shighree, Kakti, Linger, Shithi, Mooling, Gurdhar in Pangi and Famous Kangla Glaciers in Mayar valley are definitely loosing their status . The Kakti glacier is just above the village Goushal in Lahoul .The annual accumulation of snow over this glacier is almost zero and the melting rate is very high. One can see the change in color and size of this glacier. The finding of dead bodies of trekkers in Kangla Glacier during 2004 , who were died in 1981( after a period of 23 years) clearly indicates the vanishing of Himalayan glaciers. Similarly the finding of air crash debris near Bara-Shighree glacier is another example.
